Stone Life (2017-20)
In myths and legends, metamorphoses are a common symbol for change. A research into the layers of meaning of the Metamorphosis from man into stone/earth and vice versa.
The series Stone Life was initiated by the poem “conversation with a stone” by Wislawa Szymborska.

I knock at the stone’s front door.
“It’s only me, let me come in.
I want to enter your insides,
have a look round,
breathe my fill of you.”
(Part of the poem “Conversation with a stone” by Wislawa Szymborska.)

This drawing is especially made for the site specific situation at the grain silos at de Compagnie.
In the silos the outside world with its current affairs seems far away. The high concrete silos lend themselves to the inward-looking view: an internal process in which contemplation, isolation, processes of change, and the feeling of losing control of falling can play a leading role.
